Hardwood Hills Ski and Bike played host to the first National Talent ID Day of 2010 following the third stop on the Canada Cup circuit. The program was lead by National Team Coach, Dan Proulx. Riders from the Canadian National Team also coached at this camp. A total of 10 athletes participated in the program.
Coach Dan started the day with an introduction to the National Junior program and discussed how the athletes can be involved with projects and camps throughout the year. Scott Kelly, National Team Mechanic, provided tips on pre-race bike set up. Mike Garrigan, Ontario Provincial MTB Coach and World Class starter, instructed the athletes on the subtleties of start technique. Andrew Watson (Norco Factory Team) took the team through a series of singletrack efficiency drills. Amanda Sin (3-Rox Racing) lead a discussion on goal setting and talked about the benefits of maintaining good grades while pursuing sport. The afternoon sessions included a climbing technique and pacing efficiency session lead by Derek Zandstra (3-Rox Racing) and a fun wind-up with a technical descent clinic on the Bone Shaker with Kyle Douglas (3-Rox Racing).
