After a day of rest following the Tour de Delta, a varied crew of highly experienced, occasional, and completely new to the track riders were put through their paces on the steeply banked 200 meter track at the Burnaby Velodrome National Training Centre. The purpose of the camp was two-fold:  find new talent for the endurance pool, particularly the team pursuit, and hone the skills and fitness of riders with current track experience.

On hand for the camp were National Team Pursuit rider Laura Brown (Vancouver, BC) to lend a hand and lead some of the drills, as well as recently crowned National Elite road champion Joelle Numainville (Laval, QC), and U23 Road Champion and Elite Criterium Champion Leah Kirchmann (Port Coquitlam,BC).

Veteran rider Brown commented that the camp "was the largest women's only track training group I have been part of. I'm really looking forward to the season with some new talent."

One of the new riders to the track was Jenny Lehmann (Vancouver, BC), who found the camp "really inspirational to be riding amongst some of the strongest riders in Canada."

The camp encompassed three days and started with getting riders comfortable with riding the track and then working them through a series of track specific training sessions geared primarily at team pursuit that also at built track skills. National road champ Numainville echoed this, saying " I can feel a real benefit for my road sprint and will continue to train on the track."

The camp wrapped up July 15th with a light speed session to get everyone ready for the Tour de White Rock. Many of the riders came away with a new view of the track and the coaching staff have found several exciting new possibilities to add to the team pursuit pool.
