When it was announced that Alison Testroete would be withdrawing from the Commonwealth Games due to illness, Bruce Wenting (Wenting Cycles) sent her an email and received the following.
I'm ok. I'm in the hospital here in Italy. I had a weird fluke accident with a car, and I broke my upper maxximus pretty badly in two places. I underwent surgery, and I hope my teeth will survive all the trauma. The way I hit caused my teeth to cave right in and the roof of my mouth collapsed.
Right now everything is very swollen and I have some stitches on my upper lip, but all in all I'm pretty sad.
I'll come home once my health is more stable.
Alison
Please get well and come home soon Alison - CC
