One day after Canada's Zach Bell won the Omnium World Cup title for men, Tara Whitten has done the same for the women's classification. Whitten did not attend the fourth and final event in the series this past weekend, in Manchester, England, however, her win in the third round (Beijing) and second place results in the first two rounds (Melbourne, Australia, and Cali, Colombia) gave her a total of 32 points, well ahead of Leire Olaberria Dorronsoro (Spain) and Sarah Hammer (USA). Hammer won the final event.
