Canadian Sport Centre Pacific, in partnership with the national network of Canadian Sport Centres and the BC network of PacificSport Centres, delivers sport performance programs and services to provide athletes and coaches with every advantage to win medals for Canada.
Together with our national and provincial sport partners we are creating an improved system to develop athletes and coaches, advance sport development throughout BC and drive the development of sport performance facilities. We provide athletes and coaches with support services that complement their performance goals while investing in their post-sport career opportunities. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team in the capacity summarized below.
Performance Lab Internship
Reports to: Lab Manager
Purpose of Position: The objective is to provide the student with an introduction to a high performance sport lab. This position will expose the intern to fundamental operations of the high performance laboratory while gaining basic laboratory skills. The key deliverables of this position will be to learn basic lab skills, assist with data collection and entry from research and testing, and completion of a small project based on collaboration between supervisor and intern. The Performance Lab Intern will carry out tasks such as maintenance and cleaning of lab supplies, test preparation, assisting with running test protocols, scribing of data, and basic data analysis.
Qualifications: Enrolled in at least 3rd year of an Exercise Science/Kinesiology or related undergraduate degree program. Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CEP) Certification and current CPR certification is desired.
Term: The term is May 2, 2011 to Dec 31, 2011. This is a volunteer position. The successful applicant will receive a small honorarium.
Location: Victoria BC - 4371 Interurban Rd
Hours of Work: 10-20 hours per week depending on schedule and lab bookings up to a minimum of internship requirements (~500 hours)
