Expanded biking program with new trails and new events

Panorama Mountain Village is set to open the new Mad Trapper trail in preparation for the five major races and events this summer.

The Mad Trapper is 6km in length and offers cross country riders singletrack at Panorama. The trail fills the gap between the leisurely Valley Trail & Delphine loop and downhill riding in the Panorama Bike Park.

The Gatorade Canada Cup and Gatorade BC Cup cross country races will launch the new trail by bringing in more than 400 riders over two weekends.

Panorama will also host three major downhill bike races attracting riders from across Canada, US and abroad. Spectators are encouraged to come out and watch Canada’s best riders compete for the title of National Champion. The Canada Cup finals at Panorama marks the race series’ 20th season. The BC Cup provides riders an opportunity to prepare for national and international events. The bike race schedule is as follows:

• Gatorade BC Cup Cross Country - July 2, 2011
• Canadian Downhill Mountain Bike Championships - July 20-24, 2011
• Gatorade Canada Cup Cross Country - July 30, 2011
• Canada Cup Downhill - July 31, 2011
• BC Cup Downhill - July 31, 2011
