Junior Worlds Trials this Saturday, June 11th, at FCV
The Forest City Velodrome (FCV) and Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) are pleased to announce that Junior aged riders will have the opportunity to qualify for the Canadian Track Cycling Team at the Forest City Velodrome this weekend. The team will attend the Junior World Championships in Moscow in August.
This Saturday's trials at FCV are the first in a series of qualifying events for riders to attain the standards required to get into the pool of Canadian Athletes for the Junior World Championships.
Saturday June 11th riders will get on the boards for warm up at 1:30pm, the Trials will begin at 2:30pm. Many athletes from Quebec and Ontario have been training at the 138m velodrome and times have improved 10% since the Pan Am Championship Trials in March. The trials will include:
Standing 500m - Sprint Standard
Flying 200m - Sprint Standard
Flying 500m - 2km - Endurance standard (drop bars)
3km Pursuit - Endurance standard (aerobars)
The Trials are open to Junior aged Boys & Girls born in 1993 & 1994.
Other velodromes in Canada that will be holding trials over the next 3 weeks include, Argyll Velodrome in Edmonton, Bromont Velodrome in Quebec, Burnaby Velodrome in Burnaby and Glenmore Velodrome in Calgary. The dates for the trials at the velodromes can be found here
