Six-time Olympic medalist Clara Hughes, who returned to cycling a year ago after a speed skating career, will speak Monday night (March 26th) at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, part of the Unique Lives and Experiences women's lecture series.
Clara is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Canada Sports Hall of Fame. She is also the Canadian national time trial champion, Pan American time trial and road champion, and finished fifth at the world championships last year after a remarkable return to cycling following her retirement from speedskating, after the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Clara is a clear favourite to represent Canada in London, her fifth Olympics.
However, Clara is also known for her courageous decision to reveal her battle with depression, and to be a spokesperson for an open dialogue on mental illness.
Tickets are available at Roy Thomson Hall.
