One of the most unifying and exciting things to come to Parliament Hill is almost here!
National Health & Fitness Day is a natural extension of the Parliamentary Fitness Initiativethat M.P. John Weston created 3 years ago. Fitness Day gives people the opportunity to experience activities that promote fitness, as local mayors and governments are invited to open their fitness facilities for free or at a reduced charge on the first Saturday in June.
As a run-up to Fitness Day we also welcome you to Bike Day on the Hill, designed to focus Canadians in the promotion of healthy physical activities. Bike Day on the Hill will take place on Wednesday, May 9th at 5:00 p.m. on Parliament Hill, in front of Centre Block. All MP’s and Senators can take part in a short, leisurely ride around Ottawa and to act as a role model for all Canadians by using an alternate of mode of transportation. This ride will be geared towards novices. In addition to the bike ride, MP Weston is also anticipating that a discussion of cycling and what it can mean for all Canadians, will take place.
