Top 10 Will Vie For Chance To Present 6-Minute Video At GoPro Dirt Diaries Event August 14th
Crankworx Whistler has a new event to add to the artistic slate: The GoPro Dirt Diaries, a video contest challenging filmmakers to capture the action in and around Whistler.
Interested amateur and expert filmmakers are asked to submit a two-minute teaser for a mountain bike video shot in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and around Whistler by July 13, 2012. A panel of judges will determine the top ten teasers to be featured on Pinkbike.com for a week of peer voting starting on July 20.
The six teasers with the most votes on Pinkbike.com by July 30 will be rewarded a full camera kit from GoPro to aid in the completion of their final six-minute film and they will be invited to complete their six-minute video. These full length videos will be shown to a massive live audience on August 14, 2012 at the GoPro Dirt Diaries event during Crankworx Whistler; first place will take home $3,000, second $2,000 and third, $1,000 cash plus other prizes.
“The Deep Summer Photo Challenge is one of Crankworx Whistler’s hottest events but we knew with the popularity of GoPros in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, adding on a film contest to our night time entertainment line-up was a no brainer,” says Darren Kinnaird, Crankworx General Manager. “GoPro and Pinkbike are natural partners for an event like this and getting the chance to showcase a film in front of the mountain bike industry and public at the huge live show will be priceless for amateur and expert filmmakers alike.”
“I love Whistler. After my first trip up there in 1989, I knew it would be my second home. As soon as we grew the GoPro product and brand strong enough, we made partnering with Whistler Blackcomb a priority,” says Kris Jamieson, Jaymo, Purveyor Of The Dream at GoPro. “Being the official ‘wearable sports camera’ of Whistler Blackcomb is a dream come true and having the opportunity to empower filmers and riders via Dirt Diaries film contest at Crankworx Whistler? WOW! This is the icing on the most delicious cake ever! Grab your cameras and blow our minds…..time to show us angles that we never thought were possible, until GoPro came along anyway.”
