Organizers of the 23rd Annual Sea Otter Classic are pleased to release the official Sea Otter Classic 2013 event dates. Slated for April 18-21, 2013, the event will take place once again at California's stunning Laguna Seca Recreation Area. Organizers will offer 11 different cycling disciplines for professional and amateur athletes. Sea Otter also presents the largest consumer expo in cycling, hosting more than 350 exhibitors featuring nearly 600 active outdoor and cycling brands.
The Sea Otter Classic offers something for everyone whether on the road or in the dirt. Mountain bike events include endurance and gravity staples such as cross-country, dual slalom, short track, and downhill. Also returning is the annual Speed and Style showcase, which pits the world's best freestyle riders against one another in head-to-head competition.
Adding to the nonstop action on the dirt is the sprawling SRAM Ride Zone, a progressive riding area for riders of all abilities. The SRAM Ride Zone includes the Sea Otter Classic demo area, providing all attendees the opportunity to test bikes and a product from the industry's leading brands.
Road offerings are just as diverse with events for elite racers and cycling enthusiasts alike. Road racing, criterium, and circuit racing return for 2013 and while not technically a road event, cyclocross will be back after a successful debut in 2012.
Non-competitive options are also available. The laidback atmosphere of Sea Otter's fully-supported Gran Fondo program features scenic Salinas Valley-Carmel Valley and coastal routes for those focused on camaraderie rather than competition. A recreational mountain bike ride will also be offered.
Sea Otter's all-inclusive activity program features something for every member of the family, many designed simply to ramp up the fun factor. Kids 12 and under can enjoy free daily activities including the Kids' Bike Play Area, kids' races, entertaining cycling shows and the traditional Sea Otter Egg Hunt. Many other attractions are also geared to kids, making the event a highlight of the year for family members of all ages.
