Specialized Bicycles has issued a voluntary recall for a fork hazard on selected carbon models. The front fork on all 2012 and 2012 Tarmac SL4 models, all 2013 Crux models, and all 2013 Secteur Disc models, are subject to the recall. Two incidents of the fork breaking, causing injury, have been reported in the U.S. The models were sold between July 2011 and January 2013. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is reporting that approximately 12,200 units are included in the recall.
Owners are requested to stop riding these bicycles immediately and return the bicycle or frameset to an Authorized Specialized Dealer for a free inspection and, if appropriate, repair. Owners can also contact Specialized Canada at 1-800-465-8887 for more information.
Recall notice on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website has photos of the models.
