Horseshoe, a Skyline Resort, is kicking off the summer right with their newly expanded biking trails and bike rental and repair shop. The resort has already finished and opened the first phase of its planned cross-country mountain biking trail expansion, set for completion in August. Once complete, Horseshoe will boast the largest network of combined downhill and cross-country mountain biking trails in the region with more than 20 kilometres of fully groomed and marked terrain.
"The expanded network of trails will be a real complement to our lift-access mountain bike park," says Jonathan Reid, Director of Snow Sports and Events. "The newly developed trails along with the great partnerships we’ve forged with major cycling brands like Centurion, Tuf Rack, Superfly and Norco, are quickly positioning Horseshoe Resort as a premier cycling destination."
The trail expansion comes just in time for the resort, which will be hosting several mountain bike racing events over the course of the summer and into the fall. Along with TUF Rack Racing, Horseshoe Resort will host the third race in the Ontario Cup Downhill Race Series July 27th and 28th. Also in the downhill category, Horseshoe will host the first Ontario enduro mountain bike race August 24th and 25th. The TUF Rack Ontario Open Enduro race is raced of four individual stages with a combined timing for overall best results.
To cap off the season, Horseshoe, in conjunction with the Ontario Cycling Association and Superfly Racing, will host the seventh race (and provincial championships) for the Ontario Cup cross-country series. Set to take place on September 8th, the event will see riders challenge their skills on the newly-built trails that meander through a mixed topography of forested hills.
Resort guests of all ages are encouraged to test out and hone their skills on the new trails throughout the summer. Guests are welcome to bring their own bike or rent a brand new Norco bike from the rental shop located in the main chalet.
