The Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) is proud to announce that the 2014 Ontario Summer Games will take place August 7-10, 2014, in Windsor, Ontario.
With a delay on the Games announcement the OCA is excited to continue offering this multi-sport experience to athletes in the Learn to Train and Train to Train stages of LTAD (13-16 year old in 2014).
"Mountain Bike has a proven track record of success at the Games. Many of Ontario's best young cyclists have used OSG as a springboard to National success," said Brendan Arnold, Head Coach, Ontario Cycling Association.
Mountain Bike will take place Thursday and Friday, August 7-8, and Road will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10. The Mountain Bike competition is once again a team event.
"We are ecstatic to announce the inclusion of Road events into the Ontario Summer Games for the first time since 1998. We will introduce a new event, not yet seen at any Youth Cup in history, which will be published in the upcoming weeks," said Greg Rawson, Sport Coordinator for the Ontario Cycling Association.
The Road events will be individual events, with medals awarded for the Road Race and overall classification.
The Idea behind having both sports is giving athletes an opportunity to race both forms of cycling. Both events will be set up so all cyclists can race and have fun!
The OCA will be posting more information on the games at the end of April.
So mark the dates on your calendar! The games in 2014 will be one to remember.
