April 2/14 19:05 pm - Make it Happen Fundraising Opens for Mattamy National Cycling Centre

The Town of Milton and the Make It Happen fundraising committee are reaching out to the local community to help complete the campaign which has reached 89% (or $12.8 million) towards its goal of $14 million in private sector donations towards the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (Milton's velodrome). The campaign has just over $1 million left to raise.

Like the successful campaign that helped to raise funds for the Milton Centre for the Arts during the Invest in the Arts Campaign, individuals are offered the opportunity to name a spectator seat in the velodrome. Many motivated cyclists (including several Olympians) have already pre-bought, after signing up at the community Campaign pre-launch at the Toronto International Bike Show earlier this year. Seats are $250 each. Donors contributing $1,000 will be recognized on the Centre's permanent donor wall in the main lobby. Virtual track planks can also be dedicated for $25 each.

To purchase a seat, visit www.make-it-happen.ca/seats.

"For as little as $25, you can mark your name on the velodrome and contribute to what will be a legacy community facility for years to come," said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz and Honorary Chair of the Make it Happen campaign. "I encourage you to help spread the work about the local campaign with your friends, families, colleagues and neighbours. Together we can make it happen!"

Additionally, there are a number of unique spaces in the Centre that businesses can brand through a range of donations. From rooms, ramps, limited spectator seat sections, athlete meeting areas to plaza benches in beautifully landscaped outdoor areas looking out to the Niagara Escarpment, businesses will have the opportunity showcase their support of this innovative community facility.

The Make It Happen fundraising campaign got underway in early 2013 and, with the help of dedicated volunteers, succeeded in raising major gifts from several motivated individuals and corporations to the amount of $12.8 million.

Please stay tuned for further fundraising events and community outreach opportunities. For more information, visit www.make-it-happen.ca.
