There has been considerable concern surrounding the ability of the Rio Olympic Games organization being ready for the Games in just over two years. There have been numerous missed deadlines, including the complete lack of a mountain bike course - there is no approved design, and no work has taken place. We have heard that Tokyo, Japan, the 2020 venue, is further ahead in a number of aspects.
The Brazilian Sports Ministry has fired back with a statement after meetings with the IOC: "The Brazilian Government reiterates that deadlines will be met. All the guarantees exist for works to be handed over in time for test events, and the Games themselves will take place without disorder."
