On Sunday, May 25th, the Racer Sportif/ Mattamy Homes cycling club will host a charity ride as part of the "Make It Happen" fundraising campaign. The funds are being raised for the Mattamy National Cycling Centre that incorporates the Pan Am 2015 Velodrome.

The velodrome in Milton is the sole facility of its kind in Canada and meets international standards for cycling competitions. The velodrome will become the first UCI regulated indoor velodrome in Canada. Following the Games, the facility will provide an important world-class training facility that operates year round for high performance Canadian cyclists, currently forced to train outside the country. The velodrome will bring our Olympic athletes home and will introduce cycling to a new generation of Canadian athletes.

Racer Sportif/ Mattamy Homes cycling club has taken on the initiative to raise funds for the "Make It Happen" campaign through two major events:

RAAM (Race Across America) is a 5000 kilometre relay race from California to Maryland. Starting on June 14th, our four man team intends to finish the race in just over 6 days aiming to raise $100,000 for the velodrome campaign.

On May 25th, Racer Sportif/ Mattamy Homes cycling club will also host a "Make It Happen" ride encouraging every cyclist in Ontario to participate to contribute to the growth of our cycling legacy in Canada. Located in the rolling hills of Dufferin Country, two routes of approximately 70 kilometres and 102 kilometres will depart and finish at the luxurious Hockley Valley resort. The rides will have full technical support provided by Racer Sportif/ Mattamy Homes cycling club.

Registration is $120.00 and all the proceeds go to the "Make It Happen" fundraising campaign. The participants will also enjoy a post-ride luncheon at the Hockley Valley resort. Door prizes and an auction of cycling gear and products will be among the highlights of the day.
