Cycling Canada and the Corporation du Grand Prix Cycliste de Beauce, the organizing committee of the 2014 Canadian Road Cycling Championships, are proud to announce Beauceville as the host city for the Master and Junior categories of the 2014 Canadian Road Cycling Championships.
This will be the third consecutive year that the Canadian road cycling championships are hosted in the Beauce region.
Running July 2-6, the event in Beauceville will feature the time trials, the traditional road races and the fast-paced and exciting Criterium for the Master and Junior categories. Several hundred road cyclists and their support teams are expected to converge to the Beauceville region with the hopes of becoming the newest Canadian Champions.
At stake during any Canadian Championships is more than results, but the opportunity winning the honour of wearing the coveted Maple Leaf Jersey as the reigning Canadian Champion.
In addition, for the Junior categories, the event is an opportunity to qualify for the selection pool of the upcoming UCI Road World Championships, to be held in September.
The event is organized by La Corporation du Grand Prix Cycliste de Beauce, with Francis Rancourt at the helm. The committee is highly experienced in the delivery of road cycling events, having hosted amongst many other races the famous Tour de Beauce for the last 29 years, Canada's longest-standing international stage race.
"Beauceville has been a very active and proud host city for these Championships. The economic impact to the region should be important as this is the top domestic race for road cycling event in Canada for these categories," said Francis Rancourt. "The stakes are high and the intensity is always present at this prime event, for all races."
The event is supported locally by an array of partners, including the Town of Beauceville, the Sûreté du Québec and the Ministère des Transports du Québec, the Groupe Canam, Caisse Desjardins de la MRC du Granit, iClic, Tafisa, Tourisme Région de Mégantic, St-Georges Toyota, Le Georgeville and Alex Coulombe Ltée.
"The town of Beauceville is proud to partner with the Canadian Championships to be held July 2nd to 6th. This is an excellent opportunity for all citizens to promote a physically active lifestyle and positioning cycling as a major tourist gathering for our vibrant community. Centered on action, Beauceville wants to mobilize the community to contribute to the success of the Championships 2014, both from the residents and the local entreprises. To all the organizers, sponsors, riders and volunteers, we wish you the best of success," said Luc Provençal, mayor of the town of Beauceville.
