May 23/14 9:50 am - Register for the Camelot Ride at Horseshoe (Ontario)

On May 31st, Horseshoe, a Skyline Resort, will be hosting one of the year's most highly anticipated cycling experiences in Simcoe County; the Cycle Camelot Ride. As Ontario's most comprehensive biking destination, Horseshoe has the hills, country roads and beautiful rural landscapes for cyclists to take in and enjoy.

As with the last two annual rides, all proceeds from this year's event benefit Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, a vital health care facility for which Cycle Camelot is an official fundraiser.

"Cycle Camelot continues to be a great local event that brings people together in support of an incredible cause," says Jonathan Reid, Director of Partnerships and Events at Horseshoe Resort. "Cyclists of different skill levels love the challenge and reward of riding Cycle Camelot at Horseshoe, there's something in this ride for everyone. We're anticipating another sold out event and we're looking forward to an awesome day out in the valley."

Participants can cycle as individuals or as part of a team and will have a choice of four cycling routes varying in length and difficulty to accommodate serious cyclists and casual riders alike.  The two more challenging routes are the 100 kilometre Platinum and the 75 kilometre Gold, ideal for more experienced cyclists, featuring challenging climbs.  The 50 kilometre Silver and the 25 kilometre Bronze routes are designed for more casual cyclists.

Joining riders at Cycle Camelot for his second year will be elite Canadian cyclist, Michael Barry, who rode in the 2010 Tour de France. Barry will lead out the riders taking on the Platinum route and will be joining cyclists at the post-ride lunch at Horseshoe Resort.

Horseshoe Resort's award-winning Executive Chef Dylan Tulloch will be treating cyclists to a culinary ride through their senses with a delicious après-cycle meal. The event will continue to roll out with recognition of the top fundraisers, announcements of the draw prize and silent auction winners, live music and an art show featuring exceptional works by local artists.

This year cyclists will have the opportunity to purchase Louis Garneau custom-designed Cycle Camelot cycling jerseys. Cycle Camelot will reward participants raising more than $750 in pledges with a free jersey.

Last year's ride sold out two weeks prior to the event, so be sure to register early to reserve your spot in this unique cycling experience.  The registration fee is $75 and includes the bike ride, lunch, art show and live entertainment. The last day for registration is May 30.

Horseshoe Resort is offering special rates for Cycle Camelot participants. With tons of great adventure activities to enjoy, including Horseshoe's popular Bike Park, and golf season in full swing, Cycle Camelot weekend is the perfect opportunity to explore all that Horseshoe has to offer.
