Cycling Canada announced today before an audience of key supporters the establishment of a foundation to support the development of younger riders - Under-23 and Junior. The Foundation hopes to raise $4 million over the next three to four years. This is the first development foundation for a national sports body that the Canadian Olympic Foundation has become involved with, and is a pilot project.
Cycling Canada president John Tolkamp says that they are in the process of setting up a committee, and are in discussion with a number of individuals. We have a video interview with John Tolkamp (we apologize for the poor audio).
GP Cycliste de Montreal organizers Serge Arsenault offered to donate one of his VIP vehicles that participates in the race on Sunday to raise funds, with lap rides for $100 that will be donated to the foundation.
Contact john.tolkamp@gmail.com for this opportunity.
