As the Russ Hay's elves gear up for their third year of refurbishing bikes in time for Christmas (last year "Bikes for Kids" received over 120 bikes!), they are calling on the community for help. Here's your chance to get involved in a great cause and bring a smile to a kid this Christmas.
Please bring your gently used kids bike(s) into Russ Hay's and they will fix them up and give them to a child in-need this Christmas. If you are unsure whether or not your bike is gently-used, please email a picture to bikesforkids@russhays.com
Last year they found 24" bikes (for kids 8 - 10) were in high demand, but all sizes are needed and welcome.
"Every kid should have a bike - riding is great exercise and it also gives children a sense of independence and confidence," says Martin Clermont of Russ Hay's.
Russ Hay's is excepting bikes at both of their locations, but Victoria is the ideal drop-off due to storage space. Please drop off your bike before December 15th (in order for them to be fixed up and distributed prior to Christmas).
If you don't have a bike to drop off but would like to help, they will gratefully accept monetary donations that will go directly towards helmets or purchasing bikes for any children who cannot find the right size.
Spread the word and help make 2014's "Bikes for Kids" another huge success!
