IMBA Canada is excited to announce that Shimano Canada has pledged support as an "Above and Beyond" Corporate Member for 2015. Funds will be directed toward IMBA Canada's Trail Care Crew program, the organization's premiere education and outreach tool, offered in partnership with Parks Canada and Subaru Canada.
Since 2010 the Canadian Trail Care Crew program has supported outdoor recreation communities by providing education on trail building and volunteer management, training local volunteer groups to work more effectively with land managers, and by representing mountain bikers' interests to local and national decision-makers.
"One of the best ways to increase mountain bike opportunities on public land is by working with natural resource managers to develop and improve bike trails responsibly," said Phil Morlock, Director, Environmental Affairs, Shimano Canada Ltd. / Shimano American Corp. "IMBA excels at taking a professional approach to trail design and sustainable resource use and we are proud to be a 'partner in conservation' with their Parks Canada initiative."
Additional funds from Shimano Canada will allow IMBA Canada to hire another program staffer, increase the number of visits and events in 2015, and create new resources to benefit member-clubs, land managers, and partner organizations.
"With Shimano Canada's support, we're looking forward increasing the capacity of the Trail Care Crew, and responding to program demand with an evolving repertoire of professional trainings and presentations," said Lora Woolner, executive director of IMBA Canada.
The goals of the program are to inspire high quality trail projects, increase stewardship of Canada's public lands, promote of Canada's natural heritage sites, and engage the mountain bike and trails communities.
