The Ontario Cycling Association is seeking a Para-Cycling Development Coach to join our High Performance Coaching staff. The position will be project based and be reflective of a 0.20 - 0.30 part- time position. Position will be based out of the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton.
Reporting to the High Performance Manager this person will be responsible for the recruitment and training of Ontario's track and road para-cyclists (all classifications). The position will also assist in building para-cycling capacity (coaches, classifiers, resources) within the province.
Qualifications
• NCCP Introduction to Competition Certified (preferred)
• Experience as an athlete/coach/support in cycling training camps and competitions (required)
• Knowledge of para-cycling sports and classifications (preferred)
• Strong communication skills (required)
• Strong organizational skills and planning ability (required)
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications (required)
Core Responsibilities
• Conduct talent identification workshops and athlete recruitment initiatives
• Coach identified athletes
• Assist in building a para-cycling infrastructure in Ontario
Coaching/Recruitment Responsibilities
• Deliver high level coach services to identified athletes through OCA led camps, projects, and other initiatives
• Monitor identified athletes [OHPSI/QFG/Other] as approved by HP Manager using quarterly reports, athlete testing, and on-going communication with athletes and their coaches
• Conduct gap-analysis on identified athletes and implement strategic and efficient resources to address athlete needs (SS/SM/technical coaching/etc.)
• Develop detailed internal reports for use in on-going athlete evaluation and external reports for athlete/coach in identifying strengths and areas of improvement
• Develop and maintain a database of relevant athlete testing results and performances to allow for objective tracking of athlete development
• Partner with other para specific organizations in hosting recruitment initiatives and talent identification session
Administration and Planning
Responsible for all planning, budgeting, delivery, and reporting of assigned OCA projects, ensuring all projects adhere to OCA policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Arranging all project logistics (accommodations, travel, etc.)
• Developing detailed daily training plan with the inclusion of SS/SM as appropriate
• Development of detailed project technical guides and athlete applications a minimum a minimum of 90 days prior to project delivery date, unless otherwise instructed by HP Manager
• Deliver athlete and parent project information sessions or webinars when appropriate
• Submit final project reports and final project financial statements within assigned timelines as approved by HP Manager
• Providing month or quarterly work plan as requested
• Assist with the development of presentations and reports as requested
Other
• Attend meetings on behalf of the organization as requested
• Submit all expenses in a timely manner using identified protocol
• Assist the OCA in the delivery of daily operations when required
• Other duties as assigned
