Dirt Camp, the longest-operating mountain bike camp in Canada, and Ski Bromont, the Eastern Townships' premiere four-season outdoor destination, officially launched on June 2nd the Ecole de vélo de montagne, Ski Bromont (EVSB), based on the success of last year's pilot project.
From May 16th to October 18th, the EVSB's certified instructors will offer group and private lessons, ranging from: a two-hour introductory course for $65.00, to a private five-hour guiding session, for experts only, for $250.00. "We have been operating Dirt Camp for nearly 20 years and have focused on introducing boys and girls, aged seven to 16, to this thrilling sport," says Jeff Silas, Director, Dirt Camp. "Our objective in opening the school is to promote mountain biking to riders of all ages and abilities. Also, the May to October season is more than twice as long as the summer holidays. And, to simplify transportation, we operate the 'Vélobus', which brings riders and their bikes from Montreal to Bromont, with a stop in Longueuil, every weekend. Vélobus passes are available for $250 for 10 trips, or $550 for unlimited use."
"Ski Bromont has evolved considerably in recent years," adds Charles Désourdy, President, Ski Bromont. "From our roots in downhill skiing, we are now a major four season destination and mountain biking is a three season activity that is central to our vision. We look forward to further integrating our areas of expertise with Jeff Silas and Dirt Camp in order to provide the best mountain biking experience in eastern Canada. Also, we are pleased to note that we have added Enduro mountain biking circuits to our offering this season."
Jeff Silas founded Development in Riding Technique (DIRT) Camp in 1996. As Director of the longest-operating mountain bike camp in Canada, Jeff and his team have set the national standard for mountain bike camps.
An all-inclusive experience, Dirt Camp offers beginner, intermediate and advanced level boys and girls, aged 7 to 16, a bilingual/English immersion environment for improving mountain biking techniques. Dirt Camp is a member of the Association des camps certifiés du Québec (ACQ) and the Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes (FQSC). For more information, please visit www.dirtcamp.ca.
