The UCI has just announced the schedule for the 2016 Mountain Bike World Cup, plus the World Championships. As has been the case in previous Olympic years, the Cross-country and Eliminator Worlds will take place prior to the Rio Games. Mont Ste Anne will be the only North American stop on the World Cup, and the final World Cup before the Games (as well as the final XC World Cup of the year). There are only four XCO World Cups; the lowest number ever, and seven Downhill events. We understand that there were discussions to hold an early season Cross-country event in California, but that was obviously not successfully negotiated.
