UnitedHealthCare & Astellas Dominate an Exciting Men's Pro Race

The 2016 Clarendon Cup, affectionately known as 'The Race of 500 Corners' among pro cyclists due to its tight, challenging course, was an exhibition of talent, speed, and pure grit in the Men's Pro/Cat 1 race. Despite numerous breakaways and groups of riders lapping the main field, two teams emerged victorious - UnitedHealthcare p/b Maxxis and Astellas.

UnitedHealthCare's Ty Magner won his first Air Force Association Cycling Classic competition, with his teammate Carlos Alzate Escobar immediately behind him, securing second place. UHC's Brad White finished in fourth place, helping UnitedHealthCare live up to their well-deserved reputation as a perennial favorite at the AFACC.

Astellas' Ryan Aitcheson took the third podium spot. "The Air Force Association Cycling Classic was one of my favorite weekends last year," said Aitcheson prior to the race, and he succeeded in creating more fond memories in Saturday's race. He was supported by a solid team, including the fifth place finisher Jake Sitler.

UnitedHealthCare's Coryn Rivera Takes the Win in the Pro Women's race with Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank taking 2nd and 3rd spots

At the end of a morning of fast racing, UnitedHealthCare's Coryn Rivera crossed the finish line first in the 2016 Clarendon Cup, taking the first step in defending her title as the Air Force Association Cycling Classic Omnium Champion. Rivera finished second in last year's Clarendon Cup and first in the Crystal City event. UnitedHealthCare has a history of excellent results on the AFACC's challenging courses, and Rivera and her teammates did not disappoint in this year's event.

Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank also had a very strong showing, earning second and third place finishes in the Women's Pro 1/2 race. TIBCO-SVB swarmed the front of the pack leading up to the finish, but was unable to seal the deal. Joanne Kiesanowski, 3 time Olympian from New Zealand, finished Third. Kendall Ryan, 2015 USA Cycling Pro Criterium Champion from California, finished Second.
