Vito Barbera is endeavoring to complete Vito's 24 Hour Ride for Christian on Saturday, July 9th at 6:10 pm to Sunday, July 10th at 6:10 pm. Not only will this will fuel funds for genetic research at Sick Kids Foundation by Dr. Ronald Cohn, but also it is the first event of its kind in Canada, for a single road cyclist to ride continuously for 24 hours.
The ride will take place at Vellore Village Community Center, 1 Villa Royale Avenue, Vaughan ON, L4H 2Z7.
Vito has been racing since he was 16, and up to this day, remains deeply passionate about cycling. During the 1980's, Vito competed in several races in North America and Europe, often going head to head with champion cyclists such as Steve Bauer, Greg Lemond, Francesco Moser, qualifying five consecutive times for the Masters World Championships. Just three years ago, Vito won the Miami Gran Fondo alongside legendary rider Mario Cipollini, averaging in the upper 48-49 kph for most of their ride to victory.
Vito operates a high performance cycle training studio in Aurora, Ontario for seasoned riders and beginner cyclists alike and is the exclusive distributor of Bormoio Road Race Bikes. Vito is also the president and CEO of B1 Evo Cycling Club.
Vito's 24 Hour Ride for Christian is raising funds and awareness for vital genetic research at Sick Kids Hospital. Vito has always had an intense passion to support a charitable cause, resulting in his commitment to raise funds and awareness of Williams Syndrome which effects 30,000 children in Canada.
