Enthusiastic cyclist required to co-lead single and multi-day bicycle tours in central Ontario throughout the summer of 2019. Humdinger Bicycle Tours offers fully supported, guided tours in Ontario's cottage country, aiming to provide small groups of 6-12 cyclists with an extraordinary holiday experience that challenges body and mind.

A minimum of two guides alternate cycling with the guests or driving the support vehicle and trailer. The guides work together to ensure the health and safety of guests by organizing rest and nutrition stops, making decisions about route changes if necessary based on road or weather conditions, providing basic mechanical assistance, and ensuring cyclists are comfortably installed at accommodations each evening. Training provided to ensure guides are knowledgeable about routes, historic and tourist sites, cultural and geographic facts, and cafés and restaurants.

Tasks include:

• Collaborate closely with other tour guides to ensure trips run smoothly
• Assist with pre-tour preparations and post-tour clean up
• Develop a rapport with all guests
• Ongoing communications with guests regarding tour itineraries, guest needs, etc
• Bicycle set up and mini tune-ups as necessary
• Informal assessment of guest's fitness levels and riding abilities
• Lead rides and drive support vehicle and trailer
• Ensure comfort and safety of guests during rides
• Set up and clean up of some meals and snacks
• Ensure adequate supplies each day of tour, replenish as necessary

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in Canada
• Must have valid driver's license
• Must be a strong cyclist comfortable with up to 160km/day
• Must be enthusiastic about leading tour groups
• Must have current first aid certificate
• Computer/social media skills preferred
• Adventure travel industry experience (especially cycling) preferred
