Team Canada concluded the final round of the 2018-2019 UCI Track World Cup on Sunday in Hong Kong.  Hugo Barrette rallied from the disappointment of being relegated and losing the bronze medal a day earlier in the Keirin, to finish tenth in the men's Sprint.  In other results, Amelia Walsh did not make it past the first round of the women's Keirin, and Maggie Coles-Lyster was 21st in the women's Omnium.

"It was a great experience," said Mitchell.  "Big step up from any other racing I have done before, but it was nice to see that I could hold my own.  The highlight from the weekend was probably in the match sprint.  Raced against some pretty big names and was able to come out with a win against a couple of them.  Next for me is back to Milton to continue training.  Still have so much to learn and I am more motivated than ever to push myself in this sport!"

Kris Westwood, team manager, said, "We were able to reach most of our objectives here in Hong Kong: scoring Olympic qualification points in key events, while giving developing athletes their first chance at the top level of the sport.  Hugo Barrette rode very well in both the Keirin and the Sprint, bouncing back from his Keirin relegation yesterday to ride a strong Sprint tournament today.  Kelsey Mitchell's Sprint result was another highlight.  And Sarah Van Dam was very impressive in the Team Pursuit at just 17 years old.  The NextGen Team Pursuit squad met both of their goals - a top-10 finish, and a sub-4:30 time, and Sarah was a big part of that."

Overall, Barrette finished second in the World Cup standings for the Keirin, while Allison Beveridge - who did not attend Hong Kong - finished second overall in the World Cup for the women's Omnium.
