On Tuesday, the Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) and Saputo Inc. celebrated 20 years of collaboration by awarding $150,000 in bursaries to 51 talented student-athletes, including three cyclists, during the 20th edition of the Saputo Bursary Program, which took place at the Nutrilait Centre.
"For two decades now, the Foundation for Athletic Excellence has been able to count on Saputo, a company that understands the importance of fostering the academic and athletic success of our best student-athletes.," says Claude Chagnon, President, Foundation for Athletic Excellence. "We're very proud that our mission has been supported in such a major way, for such a long time and by such an important sponsor, especially given their involvement in other FAEQ events, such as the Bonneville 808 Challenge."
Two types of bursaries were awarded at Tuesday's event: 19 Academic Excellence bursaries to recognize outstanding scholastic results and 32 Academic and Athletic Support bursaries to promote balance between school and sport.
Road and track riders Adèle Desgagnés and Laurie Jussaume were each awarded $4,000 Academic and Athletic Support bursaries, as was BMX athlete Èdouard Proulx.
