Cycling Canada has announced that they are recommending the postponement or cancellation of all events to June 14th, an extension of the previously recommended May 1st date.
In a statement, Cycling Canada said: In order to continue to support the efforts from public health authorities to minimize the transmission of the virus, and to reduce the pressure on athletes and members, Cycling Canada is now recommending that all cycling events on the Cycling Canada calendar be postponed or cancelled until June 14th.
Some events have already announced that they will be postponed or cancelled, such as Tour de Beauce, Crossroads Tremblant and the Defi sportif AlterGo. Others that have not made announcements but that are in the new time period are the Baie St Paul (XCO), Canmore (XCO) and Panorama (DH) Mountain Bike Canada Cups, and the Tour de Gatineau/Chrono Gatineau road events.
Cycling Canada have said that they will again reassess the situation on April 20th for events scheduled from June 15th on. The most significant event in that next period will be the Road Nationals, scheduled for June 25-28 in Levis, Quebec.
