Canadian cyclist Kelsey Mitchell, the second Canadian cyclist to win an Olympic gold medal (in the women's sprint at the Toyko Games) has become the most recent cyclist to be added to the Canadian Encyclopedia. Mitchell was added this week on January 11th.
The Canadian Encyclopedia was first published in 1985, and an interactive version was added in 2013 [find out more about the project Here.
The Mitchell entry can be seen Here, and is fairly well researched, however, it does not include her post-Olympic world championships bronze medal, nor her results in the inaugural UCI Champions League track series.
The number of significant Canadian cyclists in the Canadian Encyclopedia is growing but, as we have mentioned before, there is one glaring - and shocking - omission: Curt Harnett. Harnett is Canada's most decorated Olympic cyclist, with three Olympic medals (1 silver and 2 bronze), as well as a world record, and was Canada's Chef de Mission for the 2016 Olympics.
