Rochette, who went from the cyclo-cross season into the mountain bike season, admitted that her body wouldn't respond, after a month that has seen her race the World Cup in Brazil, then win the XCC in Fayetteville, fly to Canada to win Paris to Ancaster the same weekend, race Rasputitsa the next weekend and then fly to Europe for Albstadt. She rode the first two laps in Albstadt before pulling out.
"Honestly, I'm just completely cracked. No energy. We had an ambitious plan but I think I bit [off] more than I could chew. I'll take a break now and won't race Nove Mesto [World Cup next weekend]. The goal will be to rest, reset, and come back strong for Nationals and MSA/Snowshoe [World Cups]. [I've] been racing/travelling full gas since August and we knew we were stretching it coming here, but turns out it was a bit too much for my body."
