Philippe Jacob (Quebec), starting three-quarters of the way through the field, was the first to set a sub-28 minute time, and it would be good enough for third. The second to last starter, Evan Russell (British Columbia), knocked a further 14 seconds off the leading time, but the final starter, Tristan Jussaume (Quebec) blew away that time with the only sub-27 minute result, over 49 seconds faster at 26:35.48 to take the title.
