Forest City Velodrome Prepares for an Invasion

Track racing kicks off for the 6th round of the Ontario Cup Series at the Forest City Velodrome in London. This will take place this Saturday, March 18th. There are 4 days to go and the entries have been coming in from Quebec, Michigan and the Buffalo area.

The 3 events to be contested for Ontario Cup points are the Pursuit Time Trial that kicks off at 2pm, later in the afternoon is Qualifying for the Keirin sprint races which will be the featured events in the evening program starting at 7pm. A points race will test the early season fitness of all the riders.

A special sprint tournament will be contested during the evening. 4 of Canada's top 10 sprinters will be in action with the track lap record of 8.17 seconds (Zach Bell) will be in jeopardy of falling. Other races in the program include a Miss & Out (Devil) and always an exciting Madison Team Race.

You will not want to miss any of the action. Arrive early and bring some friends. The evening program begins at 7pm on Saturday.

Other News

The Velodrome is coming up to our first anniversary, Plan to attend our 1st Birthday Party as part of the Ontario Provincial Championships on the Weekend of April 21st - 23rd. The Championships are open to any track racer who wants to test their legs for the upcoming season. Ability based categories will be set up for all experience levels.

Spectators, if it has been a while since attending one of our race nights, come out and see some of Canada's finest track stars take on the invaders from the South. You will be on the edge of your seat. Ontario Cycling Clubs get a group together for discounted admission prices.
