BMX/Mountain Bike Club Startup

A new BMX/Mountain Bike Club is being formed in the Keswick/Sutton area (40 minutes north of Toronto). There are already some great riding areas such as the Ravenshoe Forest and new facilities are planned to be built this summer for BMX, 4X (Four Cross) and Cross Country. They are looking for people interested in getting involved and building a community based organization that will be for riders of all ages and experience.

Contact Janet O'Connell at joconnelln232@rogers.com or cell 905.252.4993 if you are interested in getting involved.

Toronto Based Youth Cycling Program ˆ OCA Request for Proposal

The Ontario Cycling Association runs a charitable Bingo program through the city of Toronto. These funds must be spent very specifically and benefit 18 and under cyclists who reside in the Toronto area.

Examples of how the money must be spent include:

• Can-Bike or Sprockids Clinics to subsidize costs for underprivileged
• Volunteer training / recruitment
• Equipment for underprivileged
• Development of athletes
• Travel / transportation to events for Toronto participants
• Cycling competitions directly benefiting Toronto youth

The OCA is currently seeking interested OCA affiliated organizations/individuals to submit a request for the RFP to execute a program that fits within the above mentioned parameters for 2006. Please briefly outline your intended program. (No more than 100 words)

Once all organizations submit their request, a detailed RFP will be sent out with due dates and evaluation procedures.

Please submit your request in writing to Steve Merker at smerker@ontariocycling.org no later than Friday April 14th, 2006. A confirmation will be sent back to you.
