Giro T.O. Kicks off Toronto Bike Week

On Sunday, May 28th experience the entire city all'italiana. Villa Charities is proud to announce the first-ever Giro T.O - a bicycle tour of Toronto with an Italian twist.

Inspired by the Giro d'Italia, the legendary international cycling event on par with the Tour de France, Giro T.O. will be a challenging, thrilling ride in diverse urban cycling terrain, touring well-known Italian-Canadian neighbourhoods throughout Toronto.

Not just a route, but a boot! This fundraising ride in support of Villa Charities will take you along - what else?! - a boot-shaped course that includes Little Italy on College Street, Corso Italia at Dufferin Street and St. Clair Avenue.

Cycle through many of the unique neighbourhoods and environments that make Toronto so incredibly diverse. Tour the whole city, from Lake Ontario up to Steeles Avenue. Additional highlights include, Forest Hill, the Humber River, the financial district, the University of Toronto's downtown campus, and more. Click here for route/course details.

Unlike its European counterparts, Giro T.O. is not a competitive race, however the 70km course promises to be an entertaining and challenging ride regardless of your experience.

What: Giro Toronto, a 75 km fundraising bicycle ride with an Italian twist. Inspired by the legendary cycling event, Giro d'Italia, the ride has a boot-shaped route and will tour well-known neighbourhoods throughout Toronto. This charity ride will feature great rest stops, a BBQ and garage sale (supporting VITA Community Living Services).

When: Sunday May 28th, 7:15am-2:00 pm

Who: Organized by and proceeds going to Villa Charities Foundation.

Why: To raise funds for Villa Charities family of organizations which include Villa Colombo Services for Seniors, Columbus Centre, VITA Community Living Services and Villa Colombo Vaughan

Where: Start and Finish at Columbus Centre, 901 Lawrence Ave W (near the corner of Dufferin & Lawrence W).

Little Italy rest stops

9:00 am: Rest stop hosted by Dolce Gelato at the Dominion store on corner of Crawford and College

10:00 am: Corso Italia BIA will serve pizza, gelato, fruit, and various drinks at the Piccinini Centre on St. Clair Ave W.

11:00 am: The Friuli Centre on Islington north of Steeles tempt riders with traditional Italian dishes such as polenta and sausages.

1-2:00 pm: Riders return to Columbus Centre for BBQ, pizza and Garage Sale.

Spring Fling

9am ˆ 2pm: VITA Community Living Services hosts a garage sale extraordinaire!
