The Flying Scotsman Opens in Toronto Theatres

The Flying Scotsman is a film (from a book) based on the true story of the remarkable Scottish cyclist, Graeme Obree (played by Johnny Lee Miller). The movie opened to general release in Toronto area cinemas on Friday (May 4th) - check local listings for times and locations.

For those who do not know the story: In 1993, this unemployed amateur broke the world one-hour record on a bike of his own revolutionary design, which he constructed out of scrap metal and parts of a washing machine. Shortly after Obree broke the record, he lost his title when another cyclist (Chris Boardman) beat his time. This only served to motivate Graeme to break the record again, while also battling mental illness.

Directed by: Douglas Mackinnon

Cast: Jonny Lee Miller (Aeon Flux, Melinda and Melinda), Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander), Brian Cox (Match Point, The Bourne Supremacy).
