Hoy Sets News 500M Record, Misses On Kilo

Scotland's Chris Hoy just missed breaking the six year old 1000 metre record of France's Arnaud Tournant by a mere five one-thousandths of a second, recording a time of 58.880 seconds to Tournant's 58.875 . Hoy has been attempting to break the record at the high altitude track in La Paz, Bolivia, where tournant set the record in 2001. Hoy did break the 500 metre record of 25.859 (set by France's Arnaud Duble in 2001) by more than a second, with a time of 24.758 . Hoy holds the sea level record of 59.103 seconds, and will likely attempt to break the record again in the next few days.
