Cedric Gracia Takes Top Place in Volkswagen Biker X as 4th Annual Kokanee Crankworx Kicks Off

The Volkswagen Biker X hit the Boneyard yesterday as the first event of the fourth annual Kokanee Crankworx. The berms were big and the tables were set for a healthy serving of Biker X action. Cedric Gracia from Andorra lead the way, taking first place with an impressive run and a time of 57.71.

After weeks of course preparation and a few days of rain up to and during the event, the course was in great shape and the mud was ready to fly. This year, like every year past, the field was full of talented riders from North America and the world, all vying for top spot in the first event of the festival.

When all the goggles were wiped clean, Michal Marosi from the Czech Republic came second, Andrew Neethling from Draper, UT was third and JS Therrien from Squamish BC finished fourth.

In the women's category, Jill Kitner from Seattle WA took top spot, Fionn Griffiths from Shrewsbury, UK came second, Joanna Peterson from Kappa, HI was third and Lynne Aitchison from Galashiels, Scotland finished fourth.

The Volkswagen Biker X course is one the festival's more popular and crowd friendly events. With the race taking place in the Boneyard, the crowd can catch all the action from Skier's Plaza at the base of Whistler Mountain in the village.

The next event to take place will be the Garbanzo Downhill Sunday July 21, 2007. The race takes place from 12:30am to 5:30pm (local time) with the award ceremony at 6pm on the main stage in the Skiers Plaza at the Bike Park base.
