Three local mountain bikers have been selected to Team Canada to ride in The UCI World Mountain Bike Championships in Val di Sole, Italy: Clare Buchar and Alex Prochazka of Whistler and Miranda Miller of Team Squamish. Overall, BC has an incredibly strong showing of riders to the team.

“Alex has posted consistently successful times this year across the board” said Cycling BC's High Performance Director Richard Wooles. “Although young, he has broad experience at an international level and is a very talented rider in several disciplines. Miranda was the outright winner of both Canada Cups in Quebec and with an overall placement of 3rd in Bromont and 2nd in Tremblant her selection was clear.”

More BC talent familiar, perhaps to corridor readers, joins the downhill team in the persons of Drew Mitchell and Steve Smith (who recently landed a second ahead of Sam Hill to win the US Open) as well as Micayla Gatto and Whistler's own Clare Buchar - both looking to break into the top ten and with 11th and 12th place finishes in the World Cup in Andorra and 11th and 15th at Fort William - they are poised to do so. The team is looking strong.

“It's a great group of young, dynamic people” said National Team Coach, Chris Colbeck. “Many of them have already traveled together as part of Team BC so are already comfortable together. Some were together last year in Fort William. I think we are going to be a very cohesive unit - able to support each other and have a lot of fun. We have a lot of potential for success here. I'm looking forward to it.”
