Rasmussen Receives Two Year Suspension

One day after Floyd Landis exhausted his final avenue of appeal after being stripped of his 2006 Tour de France win, last year's all but assured winner Michael Rasmussen received a two year suspension from the Monaco cycling ferderation.

Rasmussen (who is Danish but licenced in Monaco), was pulled from the Tour while in the Yellow Jersey by his Rabobank squad after it was revealed that he had lied about his whereabouts prior to the Tour and had missed three out-of-competition doping controls. The two year suspension is back-dated to July 25, 2007 (the day he was pulled out of the Tour).

Rasmussen could still potentially appeal his suspension to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport).
