Despite many of the top riders being away at Beauce, tonight's event was a great success, with well over 70 riders at the start. For the first 5 laps, the scratch group made very little impression on the handicap pack which was moving really well, with break attempts almost every lap. One of the better ones included Gary Scully and Duncan Salisbury , Halton R&T, and Greg Borden, Schwinn . However, all were eventually pulled in and the bunch remained more-or-less intact until the scratch group caught them on lap 15.

The first three primes were taken by Salisbury, who was riding very impressively and the fourth sprint went to James Wadden who was also riding a very aggressive race. The remaining primes, which were contested by everyone, didn't all go to scratch riders. Wadden managed to win a second and primes were also won by Jason Valenti, Re-My Sport, and elite triathlete Brian Taborek, independent.

As the pack approached the final sprint, Gerrard Yeates, RNH got a great lead out from his team mate and literally exploded out of the pack, showing his class as a top road sprinter.. He won a Rolls San Marco saddle, one of Veltec's donations, for his effart. Mississauga Volvic's Greg Cavanagh ,presently lying second in the series, took second and moved 3 points closer to Leader Jeff Hansen who could only manage 5th place tonight. Matthias Schmidt also move closer to Hansen by taking third place.with Neworld's Andrew Pinfold rounding out the top 4.

The race was marred by one crash, with Re-My Sport's Walter Grabovac, who has just moved up fromn the novice series, hitting a moving cone and bringing down Anita Wayman, Schwinn. Both riders suffered the usual road rash and bruises but were otherwise OK. Anita rode around slowly with mentor Pierre Perrin who generously left the race to assist her. Walter went to a nearby hospital to have his shoulder checked out.
