Vancouver Double 'Cross Weekend

Saturday: Team Peninsula Cycles BC Cup Final
Sunday: Team Escape Velocity BC Provincial Cyclo-cross Championships

This weekend, the Lower Mainland Cyclo-cross season will conclude with the final two races in a very busy season.

On Saturday, Team Peninsula Cycles is hosting the Cyclo-cross BC Cup Final in South Surrey. This is the final race in the eight-race BC Cup series and Team Peninsula Cycles has put together a fabulous 'Cross course at the sprawling South Surrey Athletic Park. On Sunday, Team Escape Velocity is hosting the BC Provincial Cyclo-cross Championships on a new and exciting course at Foreshore Park in Burnaby. With Provincial bragging rights on the line, this race will mark the conclusion to a very intense cyclo-cross racing season in British Columbia.

"We were excited by the caliber of the competition at EV's Cross(Port)Coquitlam! last weekend and we expect a good turn out for this race because it will determine the Provincial champions in Elite, Masters and Junior categories ." Jak New, Team Escape Velocity race director said. "We are expecting the best cyclo-cross racers to turn out, not just from the Lower Mainland but from Vancouver Island and the Interior."

The Foreshore Park course is a mostly flat grass-and-gravel course, set against the north shore of the Fraser River.

EV Grand Prix of 'Cross/Provincial Cyclo-cross Championships Event Details

Date: November 23, 2008

Location: Foreshore Park, Burnaby, BC. Registration and parking will be at Byrne Road and Fraser Park Drive.

Time: Sign on opens at 8:30 am and closes 10 minutes before your start time.

•9:30 AM - Open Non-championship race - 30 minutes. This is for racers that were typically in the "C'" or Beginner Race, both men and women will race together, and we'll throw in a surprise or two to keep it fun.
•10:10 AM Junior / U17 Women & Masters Women- 30 minutes (staggered start)
•11:00 AM - Masters Men & Junior / U17 Men - 40 minutes (staggered start)
•12:00 PM - Elite Men (60 minutes) & Elite Women (40 minutes) - staggered start
•1:15 Awards

Note: mountain bikes are allowed in the non-championship Junior, and U-17 categories. You must use a cyclo-cross bicycle (drop bars, no disc brakes) in the Elite and Master categories.
