Outdoor Gear Canada Awarded Silver LEED Certification

Outdoor Gear Canada (OGC)'s headquarters building in Montreal has earned silver-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the Canadian Green Building Council.

OGC in Canada is the exclusive Canadian distributor to the cycling, outdoor, snow and powersports markets for Easton Bell Sports, Camelbak, Kryptonite, Mavic, Opus Bicycles, Pedro's, PowerBar, Profile, Saris-CycleOps, San Marco, Speedplay and Vittoria.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health:

• sustainable site development
• water efficiency
• energy efficiency
• materials selection
• indoor environmental quality

OGC's facility incorporates a renovated office-warehouse and new offices with over 110,000sq ft of usable space. The LEED project was headed up by Jean Cloutier, the company's Vice - President, Operations & Finance.
