If you can ride a mountain bike, you can ride the John Henry West Coast Super D on April 26th, 2009 in Belcarra, B.C. Low, low $15 entry fee for online pre-registration up to Apr. 19th, with a cap of 200 lucky riders.

The Super D mountain bike race format has been gaining popularity. West Coast Racing is giving you a chance to try it. It's a great mix between cross country and downhill, without the full-on hardcore technical requirements of a true downhill yet keeping the emphasis on singletrack skills. Super D is the perfect format for that 4-6 inch travel bike that you might think is too heavy and squishy to race XC yet not tough enough for a downhill course, but we've designed the course so that anything from XC hardtails to full DH rigs will do the trick. Full event information including elevation profile, and link to online registration is available at:

www.westcoastracing.ca/superd

Each run on the course of the John Henry West Coast Super D will take approx. 10-15 minutes for most riders. Race day will have an open session for practice on the course to give you a chance to take a couple of test runs. It is mostly downhill without getting too steep or too technical, plus some pedaling and climbing thrown in. Top pilots will be those riders who bring the skills but know how to turn the pedals too. While it is a timed race with riders starting at 30 second intervals, the atmosphere will be low key, low cost, and appeal to a large cross-section of riders, which are all the hallmarks of grassroots racing. Wear a costume, wear your baggies, wear your lycra, even wear your skin-suit if you've got one. It's all about having fun in a swooping paradise of twisty west coast technical singletrack.

Legendary BC mountain biking supporters John Henry Bikes (www.johnhenrybikes.com) and Race Face (www.raceface.com) are combining with event organizer West Coast Racing to help bring you a truckload of swag, plus even a free DJ bike from John Henry (or trade in at the shop for equivalent value).
