Hughes Out for the Season We spoke with Clara Hughes‚ coach (Mirek Mazur) at the Mountain Bike Nationals this past weekend. As you will know if you have been following Daily News, Clara has been suffering from an injured Achilles tendon throughout the season (the injury dates to 1993), and has actually missed a number of races (including the nationals) while recovering. Well, Clara will be taking the rest of the season off to recover from this injury. She is also in the process of looking for a place in California to move to in the fall, so that she can live and train down there. Ontario Race Series You may remember from earlier in the year when we wrote about a weekly road race series happening in Mississauga, organized by The League. They are now online, so we will post results from their very popular race series. Below is information on the series: August 13th. to September 3rd - completion of The League Midweek Series at Matheson East Industrial Park, Wednesdays 7:00pm. For information contact (905) 271-8300 or email: peter.mac@sympatico.ca The League Midweek Cyclo-cross series, Satellite Blvd. Mississauga, Wednesdays 6.30pm, September 10, 17 and 24.
