The organizers of the Giro d'Italia today released the route for next year's race, which will start outside of Italy in Amsterdam, Netherlands.  The 2010 edition has six mountain stages and four time trials - including a team time trial - which makes it a vastly different race from the previously announced Tour de France.  After the first three stages in and around Amsterdam, the Giro has an early Rest Day for the transition to Italy.  In total, the 2010 Giro will cover 3416.5 kilometres over 21 stages between May 8th and 30th.

Stage 2 - Amsterdam to Utrecht 209 km
Stage 3 - Amsterdam to Middelburg 209 km
Rest Day - May 11 Savigliano
Stage 4 - Savigliano to Cuneo TTT 32.5 km
Stage 5 - Novara to Novi Ligure 168 km
Stage 6 - Fidenza to Marina di Carrara 166 km
Stage 7 - Carrara to Montalcino 215 km
Stage 8 - Chianciano - Monte Terminillo 189 km
Stage 9 - Frosinone to Cava de' Tirreni 188 km
Stage 10 - Avellino to Bitonto 220 km
Stage 11 - Lucera to L'Aquila 256 km
Stage 12 - Città Sant'Angelo - Porto Recanati 191 km
Stage 13 - Porto Recanati to Cesenatico 222 km
Stage 14 - Ferrara to Asolo (Monte Grappa) 201 km
Stage 15 - Mestre to Zoncolan 218 km
Rest Day - May 24 Friuli
Stage 16 - San Vigilio di Marebbe to Plan de Corones ITT 12.9 km
Stage 17 - Brunico to Pejo Terme 173 km
