October 3/10 18:22 pm - American Announcer Bewilders Spectators

American cyclo-cross announcer Richard Fries was brought as one of the colour commentators for the Road Worlds.  Richard is know for his colourful (and sometimes weird) analogies, and he took the Australian crowd by surprise with some of his pronouncements:

• Attacks in the final lap:  "Oh the humanity of it all"

• Chase group not working - "They're a bit like a plane at the moment.  Where all the fat people are standing in the galley, eating peanuts.  And no one is helping the plane to take off."

• A rider cracks:  "Like a ship taking on water"

"The break has fallen apart like a cheap suit, and totally unraveled"

• A crash:  "In America we'd call that a yard sale, because everything's out of your pockets and all over the road"

And finally, the UCI press release had possibly the best/worst headline possible:  God of Thunder Strikes Down Under
