The Canmore Nordic Centre has some big plans for new trails again in 2011.  This will be old news in a few years as our trail development is slated to continue for the next 3-5 years (reference the Summer Trails Master Plan at www.CanmoreNordicCentre.ca).

The new trail construction for 2011 will be a connector trail from the bottom of the Coal Chutes to the bottom of Artistic Merit.  This will be an approximately 3.5 km trail that traverses a long bench, climbing gradually.  It will be a great alternative to the Georgetown Climb and/or the Georgetown Interpretive Trail.

This yet-to-be-named trail will be of intermediate technical difficulty and will feature some rolling and flowy sections.  For those of you familiar with FYI... it will be very similar to that popular trail.

Other trail projects for 2011 will include significant rehabilitation on the EKG (orange) loop, including the installation of bridges in wet areas.  For more information on these and other projects (or to volunteer) please contact Canmore.NordicCentre@gov.ab.ca.
